the clock next to me ticks incessantly. tickticktick. the world is being wound up around a spring every passing moment, tighter and tighter. ticktickticktick. pressure builds, the spring groans as it is wound and wound and wound, the world stretched and contorted around it, tickticktickticktick. we all wait for the alarm to go off, when the spring finally breaks, and the world will explode off of the coils and go flying in every direction, to ever corner of the universe, ticktickticktickticktick. we wait for the ticking to cease. we wait for the alarm. we wait for the explosion of the world. we wait for the end of all things. tickticktic

a split in the path an end; inevitable but which one? can't I stand here forever? no; they follow close behind, the future in their pockets they will pass me by, choose a path and I must trail after an end; inevitable I wish I could stand still stare fate in the eye until the end of everything, not just my own, but all there was all there is and all that shall ever be but the future draws ever near; a split in the path which way holds the end, my end? it is... inevitable.

I will never understand my mother.
